Equity Housing Group was a property management firm based in Stockport, Greater Manchester and responsible for over 5000 properties across the North West region. In 2020, the company merged with another local firm – the Great Places Housing Group – transferring their assets to their new parent company. This brought the total properties owned by the group to more than 24,000, making them one of the most significant property management businesses in the region.
These are a couple of case studies detailing the work we have provided for the team at Equity Housing Group, prior to their merger. For more information, or to discuss a similar project of your own, call Thextons today.
Based in Oxton (a suburb of our own home town of Birkenhead), Howbeck Court is a block of retirement flats that needed new windows fitted for the benefit of its residents. We were instructed to do so by Equity Housing Group, who were responsible for managing these flats.
Since many of the residents had mobility issues, our team was also tasked with making adaptations to some of the flats, to make them more habitable for disabled tenants. This included fitting windows that not only required less strength to open, but also opened from the bottom of the window frame, rather than the top, as is more traditional. This would ensure that residents confined to a wheelchair would have no issues opening and closing their window when needed.
The windows also included the latest in security features to help the tenants feel safe in their own home.
The Old Ribbon Mill is a Listed Building on Pitt Street in Macclesfield. A former textile mill, this historic building has since been turned into a prestigious freehold property, featuring several luxurious apartments.
We were instructed to replace the existing windows with brand new models that complemented the exterior aesthetic of the building. We supplied and installed high-quality sliding sash windows with timber frames for the project. Not only did they look great, both from outside the property and from inside the respective apartments, they included the latest security fixtures, as well as providing heat and noise insulation for the residents.
