Byrne Avenue Trust Case Studies

Byrne Avenue Baths in Rock Ferry was closed in 2008 by Wirral Borough Council, much to the dismay of local residents. Since there was no plan in place by the council to restore and refurbish the Baths, more than 2000 people in the local area signed a petition to save the beautiful Grade II listed building from deterioration and subsequent demolition. In 2016, they formed the Byrne Avenue Trust, a charitable organisation that intended to save, restore, and re-open this historic 1930s building.

Our work with Byrne Avenue Trust

The Byrne Avenue Trust is dedicated towards a single goal – the complete refurbishment of the Byrne Avenue Baths building so that it can be reopened to the public. This is a massive undertaking, particularly for a local organisation funded by charitable donations. Below you will find out the part we have had to play in this refurbishment. Call Thextons today for more details or to discuss any similar projects of your own.

Byrne Avenue Baths

2021 – 18 months – £400,000

As part of the first phase of refurbishing the Byrne Avenue Baths, we were instructed to handle several key repairs and improvements to the property. These included the communal toilets and the Slipper Baths Cafe, built on the site of the gentlemen’s slipper baths. This will be a place for visitors to stop off for a drink or a snack, or pop in for lunch.

Another key part of this first phase is renovating the sports hall. This included installing a brand new roof to the sports hall, replacing the ceiling and installing a rubber floor, suitable for playing basketball, badminton, and other popular indoor sports.
